Jumpstyle, Hardstyle, Hardcore, Frenchcore, or even Gabber… I'm not getting all these terms! I can tell that not everything sounds the same but whether this is due to some differences in the genre or just some individuality of the artist - I don't know… I like this/these genre(s) enough to listen to it occasionally but not enough to really get musicologically involved to sort it out.
Nex Gen Volume 01 (also stylized Nex Gen Volume One on the cover) is - not too surprisingly - the first volume in Karol and Guillaume's series on hard techno and its variations, released 27 April 2007. Respresenting the diverse styles are NTX13, V-Bass, DJ Guit, Thunderfear (through his collaboration with V-Bass called The Hardquake), and, of course, Toxik Waste and Noize-R themselves. While not every track is to my liking, there are a few tracks that stand out.
